The idea for The Burkarski Catalog came from Slip. Impressed and enamored with our camping gear and stand-up paddle boards, she said we should create a catalog. So here it is.
Will we make any money off of this website? Probably not. Many of our favorite things are old and no longer for sale. Will we have fun writing a blog about our stuff? Yes.

Megan Mary Burkarski
Megan was born in Buffalo, NY and attended school in Rochester. She works in medical device R&D design as an electrical engineer.
Megan is a trail and ultra runner. She has completed two 50k races, two marathons, and several relays. Sometimes she hikes. Sometimes she paddles. Sometimes she cycles but she has a fear of cycling anywhere near cars.
Megan loves producing fiber arts, or as she prefers to call them, her old lady crafts. These include sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery, and more. Her most impressive creation was making her own wedding gown.
Michael Burkarski
Michael was born in Gillette, WY and moved to Buffalo after high school.
Michael spent most of his career in the coffee industry, working in several different areas of the business including behind the bar, roasting, green buying, training, quality, and cafe design. He’s competed in cup tasting competitions and inspired a rule that you must taste each cup and cannot simply follow your nose.
Michael loves to go on adventures with Megan whether it be running, hiking, cycling, paddling, or just exploring. In his downtime he plays video games. When Megan met him she knew he had to be a younger brother since his character of choice was Luigi, but Michael will attest that Luigi is the superior character with his longer jumping abilities and has nothing to do with being Player 2.

Megan and Michael met on OkCupid in 2010. Michael had seen Megan’s profile but had been too shy to send a message. Megan was feeling dejected about her prospects after a summer and fall of bad dates. For the very first time, Megan hit the random button on OkCupid, “Roll the Dice.” The random profile that she was taken to was Michael’s! Megan sent the first message; since his profile described his love for coffee, Megan opened up with, “Would you ever consider dating a non-coffee drinker?”
Less than a year later, Megan had a job opportunity in Tarrytown, NY and that meant it was time to make a big decision. Would Michael pack his bags and move away to start a new life in a new town with Megan? Yes!
Megan and Michael celebrated their love among family and friends in 2015. That was the day they officially became the Burkarskis! And their story continues with a lifetime of magic and adventures.
